What types of services do you offer?
Americas Semper Fortis Veteran Housing (ASFVH), LLC operates in tandem with its nonprofit arm, America’s Semper Safe Haven (ASSH), to deliver a highly structured, turn-key transitional and permanent housing model.
- Guaranteed Property Management (ASFVH LLC): We partner with owners of 3+ bedroom homes to provide full-service property management, securing hands-off, guaranteed passive rental income for landlords.
- Independent Veteran Apartments (ASFVH LLC): We source and manage strategic apartment units located 20 minutes or less from the VA Medical Center, giving Veterans rapid access to healthcare and community integration. We deliberately target, secure and vet properties that accept VA housing vouchers (such as HUD-VASH), ensuring every unit fully complies with all federal and local voucher qualifications.
- Sanctuary & Group Housing (ASSH Non-Profit): We provide safe group home placements, independent living spaces and trauma-informed healing environments for women, children and single fathers overcoming domestic violence or homelessness.
- Holistic Support Systems: Our combined ecosystem provides professional job training, community resources and a strict pet-inclusive policy so residents never have to choose between their safety and their service animals or pets.
Who do you primarily serve?
Our ecosystem serves three core, interconnected stakeholder groups:
- Veterans and Military Families: Service members requiring stable, independent apartments strategically situated close to essential VA healthcare infrastructure.
- Vulnerable Families & Survivors: Women, children and single fathers fleeing domestic violence who need immediate, safe sanctuary and group housing.
- Property Owners & Landlords: Homeowners and multi-family complexes seeking zero-headache asset management backed by guaranteed rental revenue and corporate accountability.
When and how did you start your business?
I founded the business in 2026 to bring the Marine Corps ethos of Semper Fortis (Always Courageous) straight into the civilian housing sector. We began with a literal “boots on the ground” approach, with me personally visiting local shelters to meet people right where they were. Being a woman in this space allowed me to build immediate rapport; the women in these shelters trusted me, opened up about their struggles and reached out directly for help. Witnessing their urgent, unaddressed needs firsthand made me realize that a temporary bed wasn’t enough—I knew I needed to expand the mission. This inspired the creation of our dual-model framework: launching ASFVH LLC to secure stable, high-quality apartment networks for Veterans, while establishing ASSH as a nonprofit sanctuary to provide safe, specialized housing for women and children overcoming domestic violence.
What challenges did you face when starting your business?
As a startup launching in 2026, our primary operational hurdles revolved around relationship-building, local compliance and bureaucratic navigation:
- Securing Group Home Agreements: Establishing the foundational agreements for ASSH group homes required navigating complex local regulations and earning the trust of local stakeholders to house vulnerable women and children.
- Building Apartment Networks for Veterans: Sourcing independent apartments under ASFVH LLC was highly challenging. We had to build deep B2B relationships with property complexes to accept Veterans, while maintaining a strict logistical constraint: every complex had to be located 20 minutes or less from the VA Medical Center.
- Voucher Qualification Alignment: It required extensive groundwork to identify and secure apartment properties willing to accept VA housing vouchers. We had to diligently navigate the bureaucratic inspection and compliance processes to guarantee that our partnered properties met all strict regulatory housing qualifications.
- Upfront Resource Mobilization: Funding the immediate capital required to fully furnish properties—ensuring beds, necessities and warm meals are waiting on night one—demanded lean, highly efficient resource management.
What has been the key to your business's success?
The key to our success is our innovative hybrid architecture, tactical focus and financial accessibility. By leveraging ASFVH LLC to offer landlords an elite, guaranteed commercial asset management solution, we unlock premium housing inventory. This commercial engine allows our nonprofit, ASSH, to focus entirely on specialized care. Furthermore, our success is anchored in geographic intentionality and voucher readiness—by strictly grouping our Veteran apartments within a 20-minute radius of the VA Medical Center and ensuring they accept verified VA housing vouchers, we remove the two greatest barriers Veterans face: healthcare access and financial affordability.
What important lessons have you learned that can help others succeed in business?
- Incorporate Geographic Intentionality: Don’t just look for cheap real estate; look for strategic real estate. Forcing a 20-minute proximity rule to the VA hospital taught us that location directly impacts client retention and recovery.
- Align Commercial Efficiency with Social Good: Charity alone is hard to scale. By creating a compliant LLC alongside a nonprofit, you can use standard commercial incentives (like guaranteed passive income for landlords) to fuel a massive social mission.
- Maintain the Marine Mentality: Approach startup friction with the mindset to adapt, improvise and overcome. When doors close on group home agreements, refine your presentation, leverage your credentials and try the next door.
What common mistakes should they be aware of and avoid?
- Logistical Overextension: Avoid taking on properties that sit outside your operational care radius. If an apartment isolates a Veteran from their healthcare network, it defeats the purpose of the housing.
- Failing to Vet Corporate Partners Early: When setting up complex B2B arrangements like master leases or group home placements, failing to clearly outline liabilities and property rules early will lead to friction down the line.
- Overlooking Small, High-Impact Barriers: In housing, a “no pets” policy can cause a Veteran or a fleeing mother to reject help entirely. Never overlook the small policy details of your partners, as they can completely derail your client onboarding pipeline.
What else would you like the NaVOBA community to know about you and your business?
As a Marine Veteran, launching ASFVH LLC and ASSH in 2026 has been the continuation of my commitment to never leave a fallen comrade behind. We have purposefully engineered a sustainable model where property owners win financially, and Veterans and survivors win socially. By keeping our housing tightly integrated within minutes of VA medical infrastructure, we ensure our heroes have a literal foundation for healing. We are eager to connect with fellow NaVOBA corporate members, developers and property owners to scale this high-proximity Veteran housing model into new territories nationwide.
