AstraZeneca Opens Applications for 2026–2027 Small Business Mentorship Program

Small business owners looking to strengthen leadership skills, expand their networks and gain valuable business insight now have a new opportunity through AstraZeneca’s Mentorship Program for Small Businesses.
Applications are currently open for the 2026–2027 mentorship season, which will run from July 2026 through June 2027. The deadline to apply is May 22, 2026.
Designed for CEOs, presidents and founders of small businesses, the 12-month program pairs participants with AstraZeneca mentors who provide guidance, support and outside perspectives to help businesses grow and evolve.
What Participants Can Expect
According to the program materials, mentees will have the opportunity to:
- Develop leadership and personal skills
- Gain new perspectives within their industry
- Build professional networks and relationship-building skills
- Focus on strategies to take their business to the next level
Participants are expected to meet with their mentor for at least one hour per month and establish two to three SMART goals at the beginning of the program to guide their mentorship journey. Mentees are also encouraged to actively participate in meetings, trainings and webinars throughout the year.
The program emphasizes professional development and business growth rather than supplier pitching opportunities. AstraZeneca notes that the mentorship “should not be seen as an opportunity to pitch the mentee’s business to AstraZeneca or their mentor,” but rather as a chance to improve and enhance business operations and leadership capabilities.
Why Mentorship Matters for Veteran-Owned Businesses
Mentorship programs can be especially valuable for Veteran-owned businesses navigating growth, entering new industries, or preparing to scale operations. Access to experienced professionals and diverse business perspectives can help entrepreneurs refine strategies, strengthen leadership approaches and uncover new opportunities.
Programs like this also create meaningful connections that can lead to long-term professional relationships and expanded business networks.
Strengthening Your Business Through Certification
For Veteran-owned businesses pursuing growth opportunities, mentorship can be even more impactful when paired with third-party certification.
Through the National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA) Certification Program, Veteran-owned businesses can verify their status as a Veteran’s Business Enterprise® (VBE) or Service-Disabled Veteran’s Business Enterprise® (SDVBE) and position themselves for increased visibility with corporate supplier diversity programs and procurement professionals.
Certification helps businesses demonstrate credibility, strengthen their market position and access opportunities with organizations committed to supplier diversity and Veteran inclusion.
